Hill Cummorah

In my original plan, this trip to NY was really for Allen. I had already been (20 years ago for those of you who are counting) and Allen had mentioned that he was interested in going last year but it didn't work out. There were two really stand-out moments with Jacob that were serious high-five parenting moments for Allen and I.

Moment #1

Jacob in the Sacred Grove.

We were walking through the Grove and I noted that is was amazing that on a hot and humid/rainy day there were no mosquitoes in the shady grove. Jacob looked at me funny and said "Mom, didn't you ever think that God blessed this place so it wouldn't have any flies?"

I laughed because I actually had never thought that- Allen and I looked at each other over his head and did some invisible high-fiveing.

Moment #2

Jacob came back from the Hill Cummorah Pageant so excited and wanting me to guess who he had met. (He told me I'd never believe it) Laman and Lemuel. He talked to them and was really excited to meet them. He then proceeded to watch the pageant and whenever they strayed from or skipped portions of the Book of Mormon, he told Allen, indignantly, "It didn't happen that way in the book!"

Jacob is currently reading the last Harry Potter book (together we have read all 6 in the last 4 months) and has become an expert in spotting the inconsistencies between what really happened and how much they have time to show in a movie or in this case a pageant.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip.

Wow, that's great that you guys had a great time at the Pageant. Your pictures are beautiful! I love that "invisible high-fiving" haha.
