We took our first camping trip of this year last weekend. For one night. We are lame.
It turns out that this particular spot of beach was covered with the most amazing collection of rocks perfect for skipping! Jacob came back to the car with two pocketsfull and had to unload them in the trunk because his shorts kept falling down. Julia came back with wet sneakers, I was happy with that, belive me, it might have been much, MUCH, worse.

Lameness aside, we had a really fun two day trip. We drove five and a half hours to the Finger Lake region of upstate New York to see Matt Lamana and Mandi Lyon get married. Matt and Allen work together at the Carnegie and have jogged together on the beach in Tokyo, so, of course, we had to go.

The kids were so close to perfect on the trip we were afraid we might loose one or two of them to translation before we got home. They slept and amused each other for the entire trip. There was only a moment or two of sibling disdain/irritation.
We left Saturday morning and drove to Lake Erie for lunch. The older kids took a break and walked a bit with Allen while Jo and I made sandwiches, ate cookies and took our own walk.

We quickly unloaded the car and set up the tent. Changed our clothes and headed to the Buttonwood Vinyard for the wedding. It was an outdoor wedding with dinner and festivities afterwards. Matt and Mandi we gracious enough to invite children. We really appreciate that.

The vinyard was lovely and here are some photos of the grounds, the vines, the pond (filled with fish) and the ceremony.

It was about 93 degrees and the humidity was killer. We were right on Cayuga Lake. The ceremony was at 6:00 P.M.. Afterward we had a delicious dinner of BBQ ribs and chicken, the most delicious roasted portabello
mushrooms,
and "Ice Age 2" wedding cake. The girls were pretty excited about their name cards and it turns out, Jacob is really good with a Hula Hoop!

After dinner was dancing and everyone cut the rug. I almost couldn't get Jake to dance but I finally introduced him to the Hitch dance..you know, step, step, elbows at your sides, snapping your fingers.....go rent the movie.

So we all danced and finally at 9:45 we all admitted exhaustion and went back to the campground and bed. Thankfully we had electricity at the camground and had brought a fan. It saved the night for us!
